When it comes to celebrity couples, there are few envied as much as Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. The pair first met while filming for the superhero movie Green Lantern in early 2010, shortly before Reynold’s divorce from his then-wife Scarlett Johansson. By October of 2011 it was reported that they had started dating, and they were married the following year in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
The couple, who now live in New York along with their children James (two years old) and Ines (one), are not looked up to as “couple goals” because of any of this, however. What people are most fond of are the way they never take themselves seriously, often making fun of each other in hilarious ways online, which is a refreshing change of pace from the way celebrities usually conduct themselves on social media.
Once again, Reynolds has taken his trademark sense of humour to the internet, trolling his wife with nothing more than a paparazzi shot and a hashtag. He shared a shot photographers caught of his wife while she was filming a movie in Dublin, Ireland. He added the caption “#nofilter” to the photo of the actress, who was made up in an unkempt fashion much unlike how we are used to seeing her on Gossip Girl, The Age of Adaline, and the red carpet.
Lively was filming for the movie The Rhythm Section, a thriller about a woman who seeks revenge against those who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family. The circumstances of her character’s life explain why she looks a little deshevled, a fact her husband’s photo humorously leaves out.
This isn’t the first time they have mocked each other on social media, with the last time being on August 25, when Reynolds wished his wife a happy birthday. Not the kind of person to leave a sappy and sincere message to his beloved wife, he instead said “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife”, while sharing a photo of the two of them on the red carpet – with Lively almost entirely cropped out of the photo.
She made sure to get her own back on him on his next birthday, however, adding to the ongoing joke in a surprising way. When he turned 41 on October 23, she posted a similar photo of him. The caption read “Happy Birthday, baby”, and the photo showed him likewise cropped him out of a photo, with fellow actor Ryan Gosling taking up the bulk of the image instead.
Luckily for Lively, her new look is firmly in the realm of fiction, and the movie is set to be released in 2019. In the meantime we will likely be seeing plenty more of the couple’s hilarious fake feud.
